Enjoy a few sights from the glorious state of Wyoming. Many are from the Bighorn Mountain Range in North Central Wyoming, to the south and west of my hometown of Sheridan.

The Bighorn Mountains sit in north, central Wyoming and provide a wealth of stunning scenery, incredible wildlife viewing and are considered a snowmobiling and camping mecca. One of the oldest mountain ranges in the world, exposed rocks sitting near the highest elevations in the range are purported to be several billion years old. Cloud Peak wilderness encompasses the highest and most rugged portion of the range, crowned by Cloud Peak, which rises just over 13,100'. These images reflect a good portion of the range, including the wilderness area.

Sheridan, Wyoming Countryside

Sheridan, Wyoming sits in a valley in the shadow of the Bighorn Mountains at the confluence of Big Goose and Little Goose creeks. Once a ranching community, Sheridan is now a much more service oriented area as the population ages and many retirees move into the are to enjoy the long, dry, warm summers and beautiful scenery. Nearby towns include Story, Dayton, and Ranchester. The area is characterized by rolling sage brush rangeland broken up by a multitude of streams including Prairie Dog Creek, Tongue River, Clear Creek, Piney Creek, Rapid Creek, Little Goose, Big Goose and many others. These heavily wooded stream bottoms host a booming population of wild turkeys and abundant mule and whitetail deer. It is a wonderful, safe place to live where the pace of life seems much slower than the rest of the world. We like it that way!

Absoraka Range-Greybull River Drainage

Each of the past two summers (2007-2008), I have spent time backpacking in the Absoraka range South of Meeteetsee, WY in the search for Bighorn Sheep. This country is about as rugged as anyplace in the lower 48. Very few humans enter the wilderness area except during hunting seasons. The trails are hard to follow and often peter out entirely, only to reappear a mile further up the drainage. Extremely rugged and steep, much of the high country is well over 11,000' above sea level and some peaks climb over 12,000'. The air is very thin. What beautiful country to photograph!

A completely wild and free fox, this guy proved amazingly curious at my actions and posed beautifully as I shot with abandon. His ears moved continuously and I was able to capture a broad range of facial expressions and body language as he watched from a distance. 800mm made for very intimate portraits despite the distance separating us.

As large panoramic files, these images are only available through special order. They can be printed in a number of sizes, including on stretched canvas at truly huge sizes. A local client has 4 of my images done on canvas in excess of 8 feet long. One such image was done in 3 sections totalling 22 feet in length. The options are truly infinite and make for a stunning presentation wherever displayed. Please email or call for pricing and options.
